Twenty Two

I’ve been listening around the clock, but the podcast backlog keeps stacking up. Triple speed!

Shorts

My shorts get way more engagement and – more importantly – subscribers – than my wide composition videos. I need 1,000 subscribers before monetization kicks in, so every lil’ click helps. I learned this weekend how to convert wide composition to vertical videos in google vids. Thus, my process now is to make one horizontal video under three minutes and then convert it vertical. Three minutes is the max length for shorts. This seems to work well. Plus, I see a lot of creators also doing this. The shorts can be shared to other platforms also – Instagram, TikTok, faceplace, etc. I still cannot figure out Instagram. That platform changes the video margins – making them look like crap and cutting things off – and I don’t get much engagement. I’m not bothered enough to research and find a workaround. I don’t want to exert effort to make yet another format of the video for a platform where no one seems to care. I’ll stick to what I’m doing. Now that my experimental phase is winding down, I’d like to get on a weekly release schedule to keep fresh content flowing and let the algos know I’m legit.

Snowglobe

I spent the night at Mr. K’s last night. I forgot to turn the thermostat in the bedroom at Nappy Knolls back on today. It’s 55 degrees in my bedroom! Eek! Dead soon! Brr!

Bread

I made bread. It did not come out right. Ain’t nobody got time for that. I’m headed to Aldi to buy bread!

Inflation

Speaking of inflation, has anyone else noticed lately that the price to rent movies on amazon has suddenly jumped from like $3 to $19.99? I mean, huh? I ain’t paying $20 to sit on my couch and watch a damn movie. Now I know why I’m seeing a lot of videos on YouTube with titles like “Pirating is Back!” Give people a freaking break already!

Buzz

Wow, am I busy today. The index cards are stacked, and I have a Blue Bakery project bigger than your head. I’m also trying to take quick treadmill walks to get my steps. It’s not a pleasant relaxing day. But I’m being productive.

Yesterday, Mr. K and I met my family out for dinner. Hijinks ensued. We sat with the loud drunk people. Mr. K finds my siblings endlessly amusing. He hasn’t had fifty years worth of it yet. After, we went to the nice Walmart. I needed department store-type things.

Oh, I have been eyeing and researching it for months and have finally purchased the Xeink e-reader. Click this link to view a video about it. It’s a hokey old-school e-reader that is super tiny and simple. It only has a four inch screen, is not a touch screen, and is not android based. It thus cannot do kindle books. I’ll need to buy epub books on google play and sideload them. This is not a deal breaker and is a simple lift. This device’s only function is to read books. That’s it. And it’s so tiny, light, and thin, you can slip it in your pocket and always have it on you. This is the big draw for me. I have the Boox Palma now (and of course a dozen Kindles) but they are not pocket portable. Amusingly when I ordered, I got an email from the company saying that their staff is currently celebrating Chinese New Year which will delay shipment. To apologize, they are going to throw in a free case with my order. I’m excited to have a new toy.

Huff

Getting my morning dose of CO. Yum! Testing out the heater before I put it away, hopefully never to be needed. It gives off a lot of heat! It made the room jump two degrees in just a few minutes. Nappy Knolls isn’t that big. One cylinder lasts about five hours, and I got six to keep with my gear. I also have a cute one burner butane stove with cylinders – the kind that’s in a little metal suitcase – so I can heat up soup in an emergency also. Or even make a grilled cheese! Cut to me being a prepper.

Shrinkage

Shrinkflation that I’m not mad about! These tiny eight ounce bottles of salad dressing are the perfect size for the rate I go through it. Of course it’s the same price as the old sixteen ounce bottle.

Brr

Living like Little House on the Prairie with my heat set at 67. I’m broke as a joke!

Wax On

Did I tell y’all that my wax warmer shit-the-bed? It wouldn’t turn off. The switch and timer gizmo would not respond to stimuli. I figured that was a bad thing so tossed it. To replace it, I got this smaller cheaper warmer. It doesn’t have a switch or timer built in. So instead, I plugged it into one of my fancy-ass smart plugs. I had an extra. Now, I can set the warmer to run for an hour or two from my phone. No muss, no fuss. Works great!

Books

Mr. K and I wandered around Barnes & Noble for an hour or so. I love browsing a bookstore. Definitely on my list of dream retirement jobs. I snapped pics of books to add to my wishlist. It made me sad that the science fiction section is so small. It seems to shrink every time I visit. And no, fantasy and scifi are not the same thing. Mr. K is not a reader. But he’s a good sport and poked around with me checking things out.

Heart

Aw? Mr. K got me a box of candy for VD Day.

Final Frontier

I’ve been a big fan of scifi my whole life. But I cannot imagine ever actually wishing to go into space. I enjoy oxygen and stuff.

Shop

Every time I hear the phrase TikTok Shop, I want to get on my rocket and leave planet earth forever.

Cookies

Not only did I bring cookies, bout someone left me a cookie on my desk. So it’s gonna be a good day.

Hinder

I am seriously behind on podcasts. Like 23 hours behind. And I’m not sure why? Winter has got a lot of my routines gone down the turl. All I want to do is sleep and eat. Nothing else is happening. I have no energy and am only surviving at this point.

Drone

I’m watching a webinar about Ai whistleblowers and am terrified.

Book Club

Sometimes I start a book and think, what the hell? This isn’t the book I thought it would be. But then I keep reading. And I slip into the book world and have a delightful, unexpected experience.
