At Matilda.

We are in my high school! I showed Mr. K where my locker used to be.
My home internet was down this morning. It’s the first time I’ve had an issue since switching in November. Something must have occurred overnight because I was watching YouTube before bed. I unplugged it for a bit to reboot, but that didn’t solve anything. It made walking on my treadmill boring as hell with no Nikita to watch. But meh? I got podcasts. Frankly, I’m too busy to fix it now and won’t be home later. I’ll flip a table tomorrow in between chores.
One of my analog twist timers shit-the-bed, so I decided to try these digital gizmos. I am constantly setting timers and often have multiple going at once. Thus, a set of four is a good thing. Yes, I know my phone has a timer, but I like the tactile nature of having a dedicated timer.
I think I deserve a pet squirrel.
Cut to me
We watched The Illusionist last night and wow. It’s great. Check it out.
I’m old enough to remember a time when you didn’t have to listen to bad 90s music on blast out of a gas station pump while filling up the car at 5 am. I’ve never been a fan of the move toward “music and tvs everywhere” culture over my lifetime. But I find it especially annoying and useless at gas pumps. What in the hell? And how terrible must it be for people who live next door to the gas station? Surely they can hear the tinny blasting music in their homes. That low level nagging noise bleeding into my home would drive me absolutely nuts!
I keep frantically checking my email for an invitation for a round-two in-person interview at the Local Bakery. It sounded like they would be setting those up soon and for next week. Perhaps I misunderstood? Or they hate me? Whichever.
In unrelated news, I saw a blurb that Apple will be replacing Siri with a chatbot style Ai interface soon. I can’t wait! I think the old Siri is kinda a charming – easily confused – dinosaur compared to modern Ai tools. I’ve come to rely on ChatGPT for so much and have a paid subscription to it. It’s such a useful tool in so many areas of my life – staying organized, crafting, research, not to mention asking random questions about things I’m curious about.
Now that I’m living in a Little House on a Prairie, beating my clothes on rocks in a stream, and hanging everything up to dry, I am a walking tower of static electricity. I don’t know how, but the clothes dryer somehow sucked all the static out of my clothes. And now it’s back! If I jumped up against a wall, I bet I’d stick. Everything I touch snaps with a a shock. When I get dressed or undress, it’s like a maraca band with the snaps and pops. I’m a little worried about pumping gas. Ker-Blam! I hope I don’t have one of those X-Files-like episodes where I suddenly combust and turn to a pile of ash. That might be bad for my chi.
Thursday Fantasy
This is how boyfriends die.
Morning giggles!
I just cackled! And then immediately saved this pic to the forever folder on my phone. For reasons.
Mr. K is a drunk! It’s so sad.
My sassy texts to Mr. K
Oh, I received a letter from Brown Bakery that their systems were hacked. Everyone’s payroll bank accounts and routing numbers were compromised. I don’t think there’s much I can do about it other than to be paranoid and extra cautious. All of my bank accounts already have text authentication activated. We live in a world where nothing is secure anymore. It sucks but also feels like something I don’t have the bandwidth to hive about around the clock. I’m busy puzzling.
The Local Bakery meeting started out very bad with technical issues. I don’t think they were my fault, as I of course tested everything beforehand. They told me that they have these issues every time they have a zoom with someone outside the organization. They didn’t seem too upset? We thus got off to a late start. But I think the mood was upbeat and good. Lots of great conversation happened. We ran over our time by a lot, so they definitely were interested in what I was serving. They didn’t ask about or touch on the timing at all. This is either very good – they don’t care – or very bad – it makes them uncomfortable. Not sure? They went over the timeline with next steps for an in-person meeting. So I suspect it’s good news for now. We’ll see. I’ve been down this road with zoom screenings with this group a half-a-dozen times now. So I’m not betting the house yet.
I realized this morning that I haven’t been getting frequent bloody noses this winter. Weird? Am I cured? Blood disorder.
My grocery list is lit! Also I ate an apple last night for the first time in twenty years, and my poop is like tar this morning. Tmi? Apples kill!
The preoccupation with the files feels like a weird turning point. Like when they were cranking out all those pornographic pamphlets about Marie Antoinette before the revolution. Humans amuse me. I hope I can escape the guillotine, quietly sitting at home working my puzzle while listening to podcasts about jungle frogs. I’m very busy.
Need
It was too cold to do chores last night, so I watched Companion on Prime. It was an interesting scifi slash horror slash thriller. It was worth a lookie.

I’m thinking about and trying to reduce the amount of plastic I ingest via containers and food packaging. One step is migrating all my water bottles from plastic to stainless steel.
